Our mixed team travelled to Leeds United for the EFL cup, where they were representing Sunderland AFC and competing for a place in the EFL Utilita Cup national final at Wembley in May. They started really well with a 3-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday with goals from Joey, Hayden and Anna. They then competed really well against Preston, Rotherham and Middlesbrough but they couldn’t quite take the wins, despite leading. Needing a win in their final game against Leeds United, they could only manage a draw. The team displayed great resilience throughout the day and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements at making it this far. Well done to the ‘Blue Army’.
