Year 2 had an amazing time at the Discovery Museum, which they visited as part of their Fantastic Firsts topic in History. The children loved the workshop they did on the morning, which was all about George Stephenson and the Rainhill Trials. They remembered so much information about George and his steam engines! We all enjoyed making our own steam engines and seeing who could get the furthest! We spent the afternoon exploring the museum, and found so many things that we have learnt about e.g. information about Joseph Swan and the first light bulb, replicas of Lord Armstrong’s machines and even more about George and Robert Stephenson. The children are incredibly proud to be from the North East, like all of these amazing inventors.
