St Matthew’s are the EFL Cup Champions for 2023! Our mixed team played against over 36 other local primary schools to battle it out in the Sunderland AFC EFL Cup. The team faced their toughest test of the season, but they overcame a penalty shoot-out in both the semi final and final to be crowned champions. We couldn’t be prouder of the effort, determination and resilience they displayed to win this prestigious competition. The team will now travel to Sheffield, where they will represent Sunderland in the northern final with the aim of making it through to the national final at Wembley in May. Good Luck St Matthew’s!
