A great start to the football season for our Y5/6 football team. The team started with a 1-1 draw against St Joseph’s, Jarrow and then won 11-1 against Toner Avenue. The team then travelled to Sunderland to play in the first round of the Bishop’s Cup, where they beat St Michael’s, Houghton Le Spring 5-0, St Cuthbert’s, Seaham 6-0 and then lost 4-2 to a super team from St Mary’s Sunderland. They are through to the next round of the cup. They next play in a couple of weeks in the league! Well done, St Matthew’s!
