It wouldn’t be Christmas at St Matthew’s without a visit from The Holly and the Ivy Roadshow. It was fantastic to welcome back David, Laura and Stuart, who performed a variety of different songs and stories for the children. We loved it!

As part of their current History topic on ‘Conflict’, Year 6 spent a day looking at the Christmas Truce. They read the story, played the game and produced some excellent pieces of English and Art work. They had a brilliant day. Well done, Year 6!

It was fantastic to all come together and share Christmas dinner, which was provided by our excellent catering team. Pupils, staff and governors all thoroughly enjoyed their turkey with all the trimmings!

Three of our Year 6 girls competed in the South Tyneside gymnastic finals at The Urban Factory. Emie, Georgia and Sienna all performed brilliantly with Georgia and Sienna finishing in bronze medal spots. Here is a video of their amazing performances:
