Christmas Cards to Heaven
We write to you today, with a moving and poignant idea from Co-op Funeralcare, to allow the children to send a Christmas message to a loved one in Heaven. The idea is for the children or yourself (or as a family) to write a message and post it in a special postbag in school. The postbag will then be collected by a special Christmas visitor on Friday, 17th December, during a whole school carol service, outside our new festive gazebo. The cards will then be taken away, blessed at Midnight Mass and sent on their way to Heaven, ready to be cherished by your loved ones. Please note that nobody else will look at or open these letters; they are completely private.
The message can take the form of a Christmas card, a picture or a letter, in which your child can tell their loved ones all of the things they have been up to in 2021! Once the messages have been written, put them into a sealed envelope and the children can then place them in our special festive bag.
Your child can bring their messages in any time up until, and including, Thursday, 16 December. This is a completely personal choice and there is no obligation for you or your child to take part in this. We hope this can bring some comfort and peace to those families who are grieving or missing loved ones during this festive season.
