We have all been amazed and inspired by the story of Captain Tom Moore, who challenged himself to walk 100 laps of his garden before his 100th Birthday on the 30th April. At present, he has already raised over £18 million pounds for the NHS and he truly is a remarkable gentleman.
In solidarity with Captain Tom, we are going to challenge the children to complete 100 laps in their own unique way, as part of our first virtual Daily Mile Challenge.
The children can do 100 laps of their gardens or an area on their daily walks – anywhere that is safe and is following the rules of social distancing. They can run, walk, jog or skip around their chosen course.
The children can record their laps in 2 different ways:
- They can design their own chart and draw a rainbow for each lap they complete or a symbol of their choice. They can take a photo of it and send it to their teacher on a Friday – either through email or on Google Classroom.
- They can print off a chart from below – either a one where they can draw their own rainbows or they can print one off which has 100 rainbows already on and they cross off the rainbows as they complete each lap. If the children let the teacher know how many they have done on a Friday, then we can run a class competition. Again, they can email or leave a message on Google Classroom.
Who will be the first to complete 100 laps?
Which class will have the highest total of laps completed?
We will run the challenge for the next 3 weeks.
Good Luck everyone!
