The whole school community marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a day filled with activities and celebrations. The children attended school dressed in red, white and blue; the kitchen staff prepared a special lunch and each class took part in a day of themed activities.
Year 1
Year 1 remembered all those who fought in the war on D-day on The 6th of June. We listened to poetry, designed our own medals and watched newsround which had a segment about D-date. Well done Year 1.

Year 2
The children in Year 2 have been learning about D-Day, and why we are still remembering it 80 years later, today on the anniversary. They were so respectful when listening to what happened, watching videos of people speaking about what it was like, hearing the poem spoken around the country and completing work. We pray for all those who fought for us
Year 3
Year 3’s celebration of the word this morning the children focused on D Day, informing the rest of the class and giving the children reflection time. Throughout the day we listened to a poem and learnt lots about what D Day is and how important it is to British History. The children made their own medals that they would reward veterans with

Year 4 remembered all those who fought in the war on D-day yesterday. We listened to some poetry and designed our own commemorative coins! Well done Y4
Year 5
Year 5 have learned all about D Day and the Second World War for the 80th anniversary of D Day. We even had some fantastic items from the war, such as medals and newspapers brought in which was amazing!
Year 6
Year 6 started the day by looking at the events of D-Day 80 years ago and thinking about why that day was so important. A special thank you to Mick’s dad for sending in some special D-Day memorabilia for the children to look at. They have found it really interesting.
